Patna: Even before the State government could
recover from the jolt of BIADA land allotment scam, it has been once
again stung by the controversy generated by introduction of books on
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Hinduism
and Godhra riots in the school syllabus.
The entire controversy was stoked up by the fact that Central government funds were used by the Bihar government led by Nitish Kumar to purchase these books for secondary schools. The move has placed the secular image of Nitish Kumar and the ruling alliance in the state under the scanner.
It has been alleged that these school books have the contents like biography of the RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Hinduism and Godhra riots.
Rajya Sabha member and Convener of the Bihar Nav Nirman Manch , Upendra Kushwaha came up with the allegations while addressing a press conference on Sunday.
He said, “This is a move to propagate RSS agenda in each village and that too with the government fund. On one side he dismisses dinner invitation to Narendra Modi on the other he shakes hands with him.”
Making a sharp criticism, Kushwaha said, “My advise to Nitish is that he should join BJP and propagate RSS ideology openly,” adding that a meeting of Bihar Nav Nirman Manch would be held on August 7 to make strategies to oppose the issue.
Kushwaha said that the issue of using government fund for purchasing RSS books came in light when Prabhat Publication sent the bills for books to the Deputy Development Commissioner of Sheohar.
Among those present in the press conference were former MP Arun Kumar, Shameem Raza and Rajesh Yadav.
It should be noted that Human Resources Development Department had
allotted a fund of Rs 1 lakh to each of the secondary schools in the
state to purchase study material.
